Ripon Residents Raise Alarm as Police Step Up Action on Illegal E-Bikes, Drug Dealing and Anti-Social Behaviour

Police have stepped up patrols across Ripon after growing concerns over illegal e-bike use, suspected drug dealing and anti-social behaviour prompted a meeting with the city’s Mayor.

Residents have been voicing concerns about crime and nuisance in parts of Ripon, leading to a meeting between Mayor Cllr Andrew Williams and North Yorkshire Police’s Neighbourhood Policing Sergeant.

The force says it is now taking action, with extra patrols, targeted enforcement and joint operations with partner agencies aimed at tackling the problems affecting local communities.

Police Response

North Yorkshire Police has confirmed officers are:

• 🚔 Increasing high-visibility patrols across Ripon.
• ⚠️ Targeting offenders involved in anti-social behaviour and criminal activity.
• 🤝 Working with partner agencies to disrupt suspected drug dealing and improve community safety.

The force says it wants residents, businesses and visitors to know their concerns are being taken seriously.
