Roadworks in Harrogate, Boroughbridge, Knaresborough, Masham, Nidderdale, Pateley Bridge and Ripon – Week Commencing 12 October 2026

Drivers across the Harrogate district are being advised to allow extra travelling time this week as road closures, utility improvements and temporary traffic lights affect several routes between Monday 12 and Sunday 18 October 2026.

The following roundup covers roadworks scheduled during the week, including ongoing schemes. Dates and restrictions may change, so motorists should check the latest information before travelling.

1. Harrogate – Road Closures and Roadworks

Raglan Street and Station Parade – Footway Improvements

Dates: Ongoing from 20 July for approximately 19 weeks.

Works: Footway reconstruction, new kerbing and highway improvements.

Restrictions: Lane closures and parking suspensions, generally between 7.30am and 5pm, Monday to Friday. Short-term road closures may also be necessary.

Swan Road – Water Main Replacement

Dates: Extended until 23 October 2026.

Works: Yorkshire Water is renewing water mains.

Restrictions: Road closure remains in place following unforeseen difficulties with the project.

Willaston Road – Yorkshire Water Works

Dates: 12–16 October 2026.

Works: Installation of a pressure release valve.

Restrictions: Five-day road closure, although access will be maintained using a road plate.

Coppice Way – Electricity Network Improvements

Dates: 12–20 October 2026.

Works: Northern Powergrid fuse upgrade.

Restrictions: Road closure for nine days.

Knaresborough Road, Harrogate – Northern Powergrid Works

Dates: 5 October–2 November 2026.

Works: Electricity network improvements.

Restrictions: Two-way temporary traffic lights. This is the Harrogate approach road, rather than a confirmed closure in Knaresborough town centre.

Harrogate Road, Ferrensby – Gas Network Works

Dates: 5 October–6 November 2026.

Works: Northern Gas Networks utility improvements.

Restrictions: Multi-way temporary traffic lights are expected.

No major new closure in Knaresborough town centre itself has been identified in the available weekly reports.

St Marygate – Gas Main Replacement

Dates: Ongoing, with completion expected towards the end of October 2026.

Works: Northern Gas Networks is replacing gas mains.

Restrictions: Rolling road closures affecting sections around Residence Lane, Allhallowgate and Priest Lane. Access to St Marygate Car Park is expected to be maintained.

Allhallowgate and Priest Lane Junction

Dates: From 5 October, provisionally until around 23 October 2026.

Works: Utility-related traffic management.

Restrictions: Temporary traffic lights.

4. Pateley Bridge and Nidderdale

Wath Lane – Utility Works

Dates: 7 September–16 October 2026.

Restrictions: Temporary road closure, subject to access arrangements.

Restrictions: Temporary road closure, with signed diversions where appropriate.

Both closures appear in published North Yorkshire traffic notices. The notices give 16 October as the intended end date, although the legal orders permit extensions if necessary.

5. Boroughbridge

No significant new road closure for Boroughbridge has been verified from the published reports consulted for 12–18 October 2026.

This does not rule out smaller utility works, temporary traffic lights or emergency repairs.

6. Masham

No significant new road closure for Masham has been verified from the published reports consulted for this week.

Motorists travelling through Masham and surrounding rural roads should check for any late changes before setting off.

Expected until 23 October 2026, associated with the Yorkshire Water improvement programme.
