Roadworks This Week

Key Roadworks Across Harrogate, Knaresborough & Ripon This Week

Motorists are being advised to allow extra time for journeys across Harrogate, Knaresborough and Ripon during the week commencing Monday 17 August 2026, with utility works, road closures and temporary traffic lights continuing to affect several routes.

Harrogate

Swan Road – Road Closed
Swan Road remains closed while Yorkshire Water carries out major mains replacement work. The closure is currently expected to continue until 11 September, with drivers advised to use alternative routes.

Lady Lane – Long-Term Closure
A road closure remains in place on Lady Lane for ongoing sewer works. These works are expected to continue until 27 November, making this one of the area’s longer-running traffic restrictions.

Harrogate Town Centre
Drivers should also watch for temporary traffic lights and short-term utility works at various locations. These could cause minor delays, particularly during busy morning and evening periods.

Knaresborough

Bond End – Four-Way Traffic Lights
Four-way temporary traffic lights remain in operation at Bond End. Motorists should expect delays during busier periods around this important Knaresborough junction.

Thistle Hill – Temporary Traffic Lights
Temporary signals and utility works are affecting traffic around Thistle Hill, with slow-moving traffic possible throughout the day.

Ripon & Surrounding Area

Bondgate Green
Temporary traffic lights are affecting traffic around Bondgate Green, so motorists should allow additional time when travelling through the area.

A1(M)
Drivers using the wider A1(M) corridor should be aware of planned overnight lane closures and maintenance works, which could affect journeys to and from the Harrogate district.
