Knaresborough Christmas Market 2026: Stallholders Wanted as Festive Favourite Returns

Knaresborough Christmas Market is returning this December – and organisers are searching for new independent traders to help make the 2026 event bigger, more varied and even more festive.

The popular two-day Christmas Market will take over Knaresborough’s historic Market Place on Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th December 2026, opening from 10am to 5pm each day.

Expect Christmas gifts, Yorkshire produce, handmade crafts, and plenty of festive atmosphere – but the Marketplace is only the beginning.

If you’re visiting, give yourself time to explore Knaresborough at Christmas. Wander through the town centre, discover independent shops, stop for coffee or lunch and enjoy a festive day out in one of Yorkshire’s most picturesque towns.

Organisers are now inviting applications from new stallholders who can bring something special to the weekend.

They are particularly interested in:

Market Chair Bill Taylor sai We’re always delighted with the positive feedback we get from stallholders and visitors following the market.

“This year we’d love to bring even more variety to the event by inviting new stallholders to apply.

“We’re particularly interested in original arts and crafts or high-quality handcrafted goods, products of local and regional excellence and stalls that enhance the seasonal atmosphere of the market.”

Be quick – some stalls have already sold out.

There’s already strong demand for a place at the 2026 event.

Every gold-tier stall has been snapped up, although a limited number of silver and bronze stalls are still available.

Local businesses can also get involved through affordable sponsorship opportunities, offering the chance to raise their profile during one of Knaresborough’s busiest and best-loved weekends.

Hot food stalls will be by invitation only this year.

Is Knaresborough becoming Yorkshire’s Christmas ‘chocolate box’ town?

With its historic Market Place, characterful streets, independent businesses, and famous riverside setting, Knaresborough already looks made for Christmas.

And its reputation as a festive destination appears to be growing.

Committee member Charlotte Gale said: Knaresborough is gaining something of a reputation as a festive destination, with the director of last year’s star-studded movie, Tinsel Town, describing the town as the ideal ‘chocolate box’ location for the movie.

“We’re hoping this has a knock-on effect for our market this year and the town’s fantastic local independent businesses.”

She said demand from traders was increasing year on year, with the early sell-out of gold-tier stalls providing another encouraging sign for December.

One of the best things about Knaresborough Christmas Market is that the whole town becomes part of the day out.

Once you’ve explored the stalls, take a wander.
