The incident happened on High Street at around 12.30pm on Thursday, May 21, sparking an emergency response in one of the town’s busiest areas.
Police say a maroon Ford Fiesta or Ford Focus was travelling uphill towards the town centre when it collided with the cyclist, sending him crashing to the ground.
Paramedics rushed to the scene to treat the injured cyclist, while part of the road was shut for around an hour as officers investigated what happened.
