Plans for 1,100 new homes
Plans for 1,100 new homes at Burley Bank, Harrogate, include 40% affordable housing, a potential primary school and green spaces. Have your say.
If the full 1,100 homes were delivered, the proposed 40% affordable housing provision would represent approximately 440 affordable homes.
Around 40% of the Site to Remain Green or Open Space
A significant feature of the proposals is the commitment to retain approximately 40% of the site as green or open space.
This would include landscaped areas, recreational facilities, biodiversity enhancements and sustainable drainage infrastructure.
The intention is to provide outdoor spaces for residents while supporting wildlife and the wider natural environment.
New Community Facilities and Potential Primary School
Hallam Land says the development would provide more than housing, with facilities designed to support both new and existing residents.
Land would be reserved for a new primary school if required, alongside a flexible local centre offering opportunities for community activities, shops and services.
The developer is particularly interested in hearing residents’ suggestions about how the local centre could be used.
Potential facilities could include a café, convenience store and community meeting spaces, although the final mix has not yet been determined.
Hallam Land Invites Residents to Have Their Say
Adam Masters, Senior Land and Planning Manager at Hallam Land, said:
“Burley Bank represents an exciting opportunity to create a new, sustainable community that responds to Harrogate’s housing needs while providing the infrastructure, facilities and green spaces to benefit both new and existing residents.
“We know people want to see community infrastructure delivered alongside new homes.
“That is why the significant number of affordable homes will be delivered alongside community infrastructure such as land for a new primary school, if required, a local centre and ancillary retail uses, employment space, and improved cycling, walking and bus connections.
“We are particularly keen to gather suggestions on uses for the local centre to help ensure this space responds to local needs.
“We encourage local people to have their say to help inform the emerging vision for this proposal.”
