£17,000 of stolen cattle recovered after Ripley Farm theft as man arrested

A North Yorkshire farming family is set to be reunited with seven stolen cattle after police recovered the animals and arrested a suspect following a major rural crime investigation.

The cattle, worth an estimated £17,000, were stolen from a family farm near Ripley on Sunday night in a theft that sent shockwaves through the local farming community.

Now, North Yorkshire Police has confirmed the animals have been found, and a man in his 30s from West Yorkshire has been arrested on suspicion of burglary. He remains in police custody while officers continue their inquiries.

Officers from the North Yorkshire Police Rural Task Force located the seven cattle and have informed the farmer. Arrangements are now being made to return the animals safely to their home farm.
